I do a lot of big family shoots. I have a couple of families who work with me a couple of times over the past 2 years. The tricky part is making sure everyone is looking at the camera, not mid blink or pulling a weird face. That becomes 10 times trickier when you have young kids involved. It also become more fun. I love working with kids. It’s been the theme of my entire life since babysitting when I was 13 years old. They remind me to enjoy life and be silly.
That’s what we did over the holiday break with this fabulous family. The children were so much fun, laughing and taking direction. When I told them about the box, and they could get in it and play, well they could not jump in there fast enough. Of course we got more than enough traditional family group shots but I was really excited about the box. It’ so much easier to shoot because you can easily control the environment inside the box and ensure that you have a fun picture with only 1 or 2 people at a time. There’s is so many different things you could do with this idea and it would make a great blown up wall mounted canvas.
